MIE/NSF Phase III Announced
The National Science Foundation (NSF)
has recently announced that funding is available for the third and
final phase of the MIE initiative. From the proposal announcement:
The Model Institutes for Excellence program is a three-phase
program. In the first two phases NSF funded four institutions
to develop and refine models for increasing graduates from underrepresented
groups in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)
disciplines. The third phase is to provide funding for the institutionalization
of these models.
The four institutions currently funded by the
NSF, Universidad Metropolitana, Oglala Lakota College, University
of Texas at El Paso, and Xavier University, are eligible to apply
for 3 year, 2.5 million dollar extension. Deadline for proposals is
July 25, 2003. Read the official
call for proposals on the NSF website for more information.
